History reports Christians use to refer to coffee as the drink of the devil and the devil's drink. When reports trickled into the Vatican and Pope Vincent III learned of this rather than banish the beverage he elected to try it. The Pope is said to have enjoyed drinking coffee so much that he baptized it. He is quoted as saying "coffee is so delicious it would be a pity to let the infidels have exclusive use of it".
